Spud – Learning to Fly by John van der Ruit
Spud Milton is back with more! It’s 1992 and South Africa is working through obstacles on its way to liberation, but Spud is hoping that he’ll have smooth sailing as a senior at his boarding school this year. But wishful thinking – his rival is back to give him a hard time and his so-called friends aren’t making life any easier. Added to this, he’s sweating through Shakespeare, is struggling to understand God, and deal with negative thinking. Sigh, we hear ya, Spud! It’s a great read that’s not only enjoyable but you’ll be nodding your head through it, going, “I can so relate!”

Tune into: One Love (2009) – David Guetta
I’m sure you’ve heard his name mentioned a whole lot – that’s coz this French DJ keeps churning out the dance hits. Many tunes make it on the radio with their friendly top 40 feel, but the dance roots aren’t going anywhere! Guetta joins forces with great artists such as Will.i.am, Estelle and Kelly Rowland, to mention a few collaborations you’ll be shaking your booty to. It’s an awesome CD to listen to when preparing for a hot night on the town.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
A cataclysmic force causes two conquerors from different universes to merge. The result? Chaos and conflict, with you holding the console. The heroes and villains of Mortal Kombat must wage war with the DC Universe. But a dark threat threatens to destroy them all!
The cool thing is that warriors get to battle it out with legends like Batman, Superman and other iconic DC Super Heroes. Choose your side and get to fight off your opponents with a new fighting tactic. The environments are cool coz they’re dynamic and multi-tiered.
Cool stuff for when you’re keen for some time-out and competition with your chick. :-)
Grab the popcorn (and your dude) and hit the cinema!
The time-traveler’s wife
Based on the best-selling novel by Audrey Niffenegger, and produced by Brad Pitt, this drama-fantasy tells the tale of a beautiful heiress Clare Absire (Rachel McAdams) who meets the love of her life, Henry DeTamble (Eric Bana), a librarian in Chicago.
Clare, an artist, knows that he is her destiny. But soon finds out that Henry has a secret: He suffers from a rare disorder that causes him to time-travel whenever he is under stress. He lives his life shifting through Time without any control over it.
Although Henry is in one minute and out the next century, Clare still holds on to the true love she believes is him. She tries to make a life, but has to face the many disappointments and obstacles along the way.
This feel-good film is about love transcending time and space. Perhaps the best love story every told!

Where to chow?
This week’s restaurant is “Grand Central” Melrose Arch.
This New York inspired spot is the place to go – not only to eat – but to chill. It makes you feel like you’re in a different place. Now, more on food.
With the warmer weather, you can chill outside or on the balcony enjoying a strawberry-field smoothie. The menu is to die for! It is divine. Prices are competitive, but the service is unreal. It is so good. They really know how to wait on you. Wow, so maybe Grand Central really isn’t in SA after all! Lol.
But try it out. You’ll have a blast and your stomach will be full.
